| With access to over 20 billion items, it is more than likely that the information you want is indexed in Google database, but it’s also possible that you may need a little extra help in finding it. If you think that you can get results simply by typing a query in Google, then you are wrong.
So let’s have a look at how to cut through the overload of data to find that one gem you’re after.
There are several simple instructions that you can give Google which will shortcut your search so it is more precise and more likely to bring the desired results:
Here’s a few basic commands to help you dig deeper:
1. Remove words from your search by using the minus/hyphen sign “-“ before the word
2. Search for synonyms using the “~” before the word
3. Make a search even more precise by using inverted commas around the keyword(s) “keyword”
4. Look for a particular site and its webpages using site:www.abc.com
5. Search for something which is contained within a particular file using filetype:doc +keyword
